Andrew Rich
President, The Roosevelt Institute
Andrew Rich became the President and CEO of the Roosevelt Institute on January 1, 2009. Prior to that, Rich was Deputy Director and Director of Programs at the Colin Powell Center for Policy Studies at the City College of New York, where he was Associate Professor of Political Science and chair of the political science department.
Dr. Rich is the author of Think Tanks, Public Policy, and the Politics of Expertise, as well as a number of articles and book chapters focused on think tanks, interest groups, foundations, individual donors and the role of experts and ideas in the American policy process. Rich also served as a consultant to the Open Society Institute from 2006-2008 and has worked extensively with foundations and donors interested in investing in a politically progressive infrastructure. He received his Ph.D. in political science from Yale University.
Rob Johnson
Roosevelt Senior Fellow; Director of the Financial Reform Initiative at the Roosevelt Institute
Dr. Robert Johnson is an economist and writer. His experience includes serving as a managing director at Soros Fund Management where he oversaw a global currency, bond and equity portfolio specializing in emerging markets. Prior to that, Dr. Johnson was a managing director of Bankers Trust Company.
Dr. Johnson served as Chief Economist of the U.S. Senate Banking Committee under the leadership of Chairman William Proxmire and before that as Senior Economist of the U.S. Senate Budget Committee under the leadership of Chairman Pete Domenici.
Dr. Johnson was named a Global Leader of Tomorrow by the World Economic Forum in Davos Switzerland in 1995 and is the past president of the National Scholastic Chess Foundation. Currently, he serves on the Development Board of the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown New York.
He received Ph.D. and M.A. in Economics from Princeton University and a B.S. in both Electrical Engineering and Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Lynn Parramore
Editor, New Deal 2.0; Media Fellow at the Roosevelt Institute
Dr. Lynn Parramore, Media Fellow at the Roosevelt Institute, is Founding Editor of New Deal 2.0. Her research interests include the culture of capitalism, women and economics, Social Security, inequality, and new media. Her work has appeared at Mother Jones, Huffington Post, Daily Kos, The Nation, the Chicago Tribune, the New York Daily News, the Miami Herald, and others. Parramore received her Ph.D in English from NYU, where she has taught essay writing and cultural theory. Her first book of cultural history, READING THE SPHINX, was named a “notable scholarly book for 2008″ by the Chronicle of Higher Education. Parramore is a web entrepreneur, whose credits include Co-Founder of Recessionwire [covered in the New York Times (3x), CNN, Forbes, Newsweek, etc.] and Founding Editor of IgoUgo. Parramore speaks often on progressive issues and media-related subjects; her most recent appearances include Facing the Fracture: Media & Economic Understanding with Amy Goodman, Arianna Huffington, and Joseph Stiglitz (April, 2010) and “Think Tanks and Netroots: Best Practices for Working Together” at the Netroots Nation conference in Las Vegas (July, 2010). She is a member of the Travel Educators, a group of journalists committed to educating the public through global outreach.
Bryce Covert
Assistant Editor, New Deal 2.0
Bryce Covert was a financial reporter with the online news wire mergermarket before coming to New Deal 2.0, where she was head of the energy sector. She has written on all sectors of the energy industry, as well as clean energy policy, feminism, politics, and other issues. She studied English Literature at Brown University.
